Trailer for Machete Maidens Unleashed!

Get ready to watch the GREATEST 2 minutes of video you have ever seen in your ENTIRE goddamn life!!!

Machete Maidens Unleashed

From the Official Facebook Page:
"MACHETE MAIDENS UNLEASHED! is the new feature film from Mark Hartley, the director of the award-winning documentary NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD. It is the first detailed examination and celebration of Filipino genre filmmaking – a world where stunt men came cheap, plot was obsolete and the make-up guy was packin’ heat!

From the early '70s well into the '90s the Philippines was a back-lot for a bevy of renegade B-movie makers and cinema visionaries alike. The country was utilized for its inexpensive labour, exotic locations and distinct lack of rules. A tidal schlock-wave of genre work emerged that somehow managed to capture the raw, chaotic energy of contemporary Filipino culture.

These productions (a cavalcade of monster movies, jungle prison movies, blaxploitation and kung fu hybrids) were miraculously made at a time when the country's political situation was repressive at best. But, this was a revolution that even the Marcos dictatorship couldn’t crush!"

Universal Studios Video Tour: The History of the Studios

More from the Kodak Video Tour! Here's a brief history of Universal Studios starting in the silent era all the way through to the theme park opening. There's a brief segment with Alfred HItchcock (his audio was off in my video tape) that's the highlight. Him and the scared granny at the end. More to come!

Universal Studios Video Tour: Adventures of Conan

A couple weeks ago I picked up this VHS of a Kodak Video Tour of Universal Studios. I guess there were a whole slew of these made in the late '80s as a way for people to feel like they were actually going to theme parks without actually, you know, going. I couldn't find a whole lot info on these, but I didn't search too hard, I'm tired.

This one for Universal Studios is equal parts interesting, ridiculous, nostalgic and stupid. If you guys are into it, I'll post more clips (Hitchcock, BTTF, Miami Vice etc), but for now, enjoy this sneak peek into the now extinct the Adventures of Conan stage show. Wait for the raisin wizard.

UPDATE: Audio is better!

American Grindhouse (2010)

It goes without saying that we here at Camp Movie Camp love us some Grindhouse shit, but we have yet to be presented with an official documentary on the subject. Elijah Drenner's new documentary American Grindhouse, premiering at this year's SXSW fest, attempts to do just that. Take a look at the awesome trailer below and try to keep yourself from drooling.

BONUS: If you want to go even deeper (down under) in the bottomless pit of schlock cinema, feast your eyes on this rad trailer for the 2008 Aussie exploitation documentary Not Quite Hollywood, which showcases "Ozpoloitation cinema", ie obscure, offensive and out-right ridiculous gems from Australia's past. It's available now on Netflix streaming. Watch it or you are undoubtedly a pooftah.
